Updated Best Accessories for Kayaking

Updated Best Accessories for Kayaking

Cory Byrnes

It had been 3 years since we discussed "What are the best accessories for my kayak?" It is still one of the most asked questions from Hoodoo Sports customers. Even in that short amount of time, the amount of new products put out to market is staggering. It can all be overwhelming. It is time we update our list with our new favorite accessories.

Hoodoo Kayaks are Feature-Rich

Our kayaks are feature-rich with molded rod holders, tie-downs, storage, transducer mounts, and much more. As a result, all of our models are “turn-key”. The day your kayak is dropped off at your front door, you can be out on the water enjoying it. You just need a PFD (Personal Flotation Device). With all that said, you do not necessarily need accessories, but there are so many great options for kayak accessories out there that you can really rig your kayak up however you want.

Customize Your Kayak with Accessories

What kind of kayaking do you primarily do? Are you someone who just likes to take their kayak out every once in a while to relax on the water? Or are you an avid kayak fisherman? The type of kayaking you enjoy can play a part in the kayak accessories you might be interested in. If you are just a leisurely kayaker who enjoys floating down the river, then you might like to have a RailBlaza Mobi Device Holder to mount your cell phone to your accessory rails, or you might like the YakAttack Multipoint Kayak Cup Holder so you don't spill that cold brew going down the river. Here are some of our other creature comfort favorites:

RailBlaza Mobi Device Holder

We mentioned it before, but the RailBlaza Mobi Device Holder will securely hold your phone in place, keeping it accessible for those cool pictures while floating down the river. If you’re more of a techie, there is now a rail-mounted version for your mobile device.

YakAttack Multipoint Kayak Cup Holder

Updated from the RailBlaza rod holder, the  YakAttack version has been indispensable on my kayak.

Hoodoo Sub-Zero Bucket

Really, any cooler to keep those drinks cold? Hoodoo Kayaks are built with a large rear storage well, and a float isn’t a float without a cold one.

YakAttack Multiplex Seat Cushion

While Hoodoo Kayak seats are adjustable and comfortable. We cannot argue with extra cushion for those long floats.

Kayak Outrigger Kit

If you are on big water and you tend to carry a lot of gear on your kayak, then you might want to add stabilizer outriggers to your boat. These essentially act as pontoons that hang off the port and starboard sides of the kayak to provide extra stability.

More of a fisherman?

There are so many options for kayak accessories in this regard that it can be tough to decide on what you want. Personally, for kayak fishermen, I recommend at least having the YakAttack Omega Rod Holder with Track Mounted Lockload Mounting System to mount to your accessory rails.

Hex Live Pole 30

Live scope has created a controversy in the fishing tournament scene. No matter how you feel about it, it is here to stay. So why not make the best use of it? The Hex Live Pole is designed to be attached to the rail system on your kayak and give you the same seeing power as a big-time boater.

Hoodoo Impulse Stern Motor Mount

Getting to the fish is half the battle. Our kayaks are fast pedal-driven, but put a motor on the kayak, and you’ll be off to the races. We also have options that allow the Bixpy motor to mount where our drives sit.

YakAttack Blackpak

If you’re serious about fishing, then you know you cannot have enough storage for rods and tackle. The 13”x13” comes with 3 rod holders that attach directly to the box. The inside is spacious enough to hold Plano 3700 tackle boxes and much more. Just like the more primitive milk crate, you can customize the Blackpak nearly as much as your kayak.

Conclusion

There are many more options for kayak accessories than we can mention here, and Hoodoo Sports sells many of these right here on our website. Be sure to check them out at https://www.hoodoosports.com/collections/rigging
