We're stoked you're ordering from Hoodoo Sports and can't wait to get your gear headed your way. Below you'll find everything you need to know about how we ship, what to expect at delivery, and what to do if anything looks off.

🚨 Kayak Shipping Policy

Kayak Delivery – Read Before You Sign

Here's the one thing we really need you to do: inspect your kayak before you sign the Bill of Lading (BOL). We know it's tempting to just sign and get the driver on their way, but once that BOL is signed, the freight carrier treats the shipment as accepted in good condition β€” and that makes it very hard for us to help if something turns up later.

πŸ›‘ Your Rights at Delivery

  • You have the right to fully inspect your kayak before signing the BOL.
  • If a driver pressures you to sign first, you are not required to do so. Politely insist on your right to inspect.
  • Remove the packaging completely and inspect all sides and the bottom of the kayak.
  • Note any and all damage on the BOL β€” including cosmetic issues (ex: scratches, dents, broken or missing small parts) and more serious damage. Be specific (ex: "large scratch on right side of the kayak" or "seat frame bent").
  • Do not write "subject to inspection." Carriers will not accept that as valid documentation.
  • If the kayak has major structural damage (large cracks, holes, crushed areas), refuse delivery and contact us immediately.

We want to help if something goes wrong β€” but we can only do that if damage is documented before you sign the BOL. Once the BOL is signed clean, the freight carrier considers the shipment accepted and our options become very limited.

  • Take clear photos or video of the packaging and the kayak from multiple angles before signing.
  • If damage is noted, ask the driver to sign and date your copy of the BOL.
  • Keep all packaging materials until any claim is resolved β€” the carrier may require inspection.

If you discover concealed damage after delivery, email customerservice@hoodoosports.com with photos and details within 24 hours of delivery.


πŸš› Kayak Freight Shipping Overview

  • Standard Shipping: Typically 2–4 weeks.
  • Expedited Shipping: Typically 2–10 business days.

Timeframes vary by location and carrier. The freight company will call to schedule delivery after your kayak reaches their local terminal. Please ensure your phone number at checkout is accurate.

⏰ Schedule Your Delivery Promptly

Once the carrier contacts you, respond as quickly as possible to schedule your delivery window. Freight carriers have limited terminal storage and delays in scheduling can result in fees charged directly by the carrier. If you anticipate any issues coordinating delivery, contact us at customerservice@hoodoosports.com before it becomes a problem.

Additional Services & Charges

Services requested at or after delivery (ex: liftgate, inside delivery, rescheduling, special handling) may incur extra charges billed by the carrier or deducted from any applicable refund.


πŸ“¦ If You Miss Your Delivery Appointment

If no one is available at the scheduled time, the shipment may be returned to us. You will be responsible for return shipping costs and any re-delivery or restocking fees.

If the Carrier Delivers Without a Signature

Some carriers may leave freight without obtaining a signature, even after scheduling. If this occurs:

  • Inspect the kayak and packaging as soon as possible after drop-off.
  • Take photos from all sides β€” both packaging and product.
  • Report any damage to customerservice@hoodoosports.com with photos within 24 hours of delivery.

⚠️ A Note on Return Freight Costs

Return freight on a kayak is not inexpensive β€” packing and shipping a kayak across the country is a real cost whether it's going out or coming back. If damage isn't reported and documented properly, you may be responsible for return freight costs, and any applicable refund will be reduced accordingly. Doing a quick inspection and snapping a few photos at delivery goes a long way toward protecting yourself.


πŸ“¦ Accessories, Parts & Apparel

Smaller items ship via UPS, FedEx, or USPS and typically arrive within 2–7 business days. Orders containing both a kayak and smaller items may ship separately.

Hoodoo Sports selects the shipping carrier and service level for accessory, parts, and apparel orders based on package size, destination, and a number of other factors β€” including getting your order to you in the best condition possible. Customers are not able to specify a carrier or service type (ex: overnight, 2-day, etc) on standard orders. If a specific shipping method is required, please contact us atΒ customerservice@hoodoosports.com before placing your order β€” we'll put together a custom shipping quote, which may differ from our standard rates.


⏳ Order Processing & Preorders

Orders typically process in 1–3 business days (up to 5 during peak season). For preorders, estimated timeframes appear on the product page and are updated as needed.

Note: Estimated timeframes apply to new orders placed today. Previously placed orders may have different expected ship dates.
