📝 Warranty Registration
To activate your kayak or trolling motor warranty, you must register your product within 30 days of delivery, local pickup, or purchase from an authorized dealer. Failure to register within this window will void the warranty.
⚠️ Registration Required
Register your kayak at hoodoosports.com/apps/product-registration using the serial number located on your product. Don't skip this step — unregistered products are not eligible for warranty coverage.
🚫 What's Not Covered
The following exclusions apply to all Hoodoo Sports products:
Normal Wear and Tear
Abrasions, chipping, fading, or aging that occurs through regular use over time.
Improper Use or Handling
- Transportation & Storage: Damage from over-tightening ratchet straps, stacking heavy objects on the kayak, or failing to remove detachable components (pedal drives, trolling motors) before transport
- Overloading: Damage from exceeding the weight capacity specified for your kayak
- Saltwater Neglect: Corrosion or damage from failure to rinse thoroughly with fresh water after saltwater use
- Unauthorized Modifications: Damage from drilling, incompatible mounts, or modifications not approved by Hoodoo Sports
- Improper Launching & Landing: Damage from dragging or beaching on rough terrain
- Towing: Damage caused by towing behind a powered vessel
- Accidental Damage: Impact, drops, collisions, or damage from extreme conditions
Lifting & Loading
Handles, hardware, and structural connection points are designed to bear the weight of the kayak itself — not the kayak loaded with gear, batteries, motors, or equipment. Lifting, carrying, or transporting any kayak with heavy contents or accessories installed shifts stress to points not engineered for those loads. Damage resulting from lifting or moving a loaded kayak, transporting with a motor or heavy accessories installed, or carting with significant gear aboard is considered improper handling and is not covered.
Hardware Installation & Tools
Hand tools are always recommended when installing or adjusting any hardware on your kayak — especially on molded-in inserts, where overtightening or cross-threading can cause damage to the inserts. If using a power drill, the torque setting must be used. Impact drivers must never be used on any kayak hardware, on any model. Damage resulting from the use of impact drivers or from overtightening hardware is not covered under warranty.
Motor Use & Mounting
Not all Hoodoo kayaks are designed to accept a motor — and even on motor-ready models, how and where a motor is mounted matters for warranty coverage.
🚤 Hero 130 Apex — Transom Motor Use
The Hero 130 Apex is designed to accept up to a 6 HP motor via the included aluminum transom. The transom ships uninstalled and must be bolted on by the customer per the assembly instructions at hoodoosports.com/pages/kayak-setup-quickstart-guides. Motor use through the factory transom, when installed correctly, is considered intended use. The motor must be removed before transporting or trailering the kayak — damage from transporting with a motor installed is not covered. The rear rail is not a lift point and must not be used as one.
⚠️ Non-Approved Motor Mounting — All Models
Mounting a motor anywhere other than a factory-approved location — including bow mounts, stern mounts, or any aftermarket bracket not supplied or approved by Hoodoo Sports — is not covered under warranty. Hull damage resulting from motor weight, vibration, stress fractures, or installation at a non-approved location is specifically excluded, regardless of hull age or condition. This applies to all Hoodoo models, including the Hero 130 Apex.
Hoodoo-Branded Motor Mounts & Accessories
The Hoodoo Sports Trolling Motor Bracket and other Hoodoo-branded accessories carry their own 90-day accessories warranty covering defects in the product itself. Hull damage resulting from the installation or use of any motor mount or accessory — including Hoodoo-branded products — is not a manufacturing defect in the hull and is not covered under the kayak warranty. Following the published installation instructions is the customer's responsibility and the best way to protect both the accessory and the hull.
Third-Party Accessories & Electronics
Trolling motors, fish finders, batteries, and other accessories not manufactured by Hoodoo Sports are covered under their respective manufacturer warranties — not Hoodoo's. Warranty claims for third-party products should be directed to that manufacturer. Hoodoo Sports is not responsible for defects, failures, or damage caused by third-party products, regardless of where they were purchased.
We recommend registering any third-party products directly with their manufacturer as soon as possible, as many require registration to activate warranty coverage. Refer to the documentation included with your product or the manufacturer's website for registration instructions and warranty details.
Improper Storage or Maintenance
Failure to clean, store, or maintain your product as outlined in the Maintenance Requirements section below.
Environmental or Weather Damage
Heat damage, UV degradation, freezing, or any weather-related cause.
Unauthorized Repairs
Structural modifications or repairs not approved by Hoodoo Sports void the warranty.
Use Outside Intended Purpose
- Rental or commercial use
- Non-customary activities (e.g., rolling, flipping)
- Any use outside the product's designed purpose
Specific Kayak Exclusions
- Damage from scupper carts or anchor poles inserted into scupper holes
- Kayaks sold as "demo," "blemished," or "as-is" are not eligible for warranty coverage
Cosmetic Defects
- Color Variation: UV fading, color shifts, or cosmetic discoloration over time
- Surface Blemishes: Minor imperfections that do not affect structural integrity
This warranty does not cover incidental or consequential damages. Our liability is limited to the repair or replacement of the defective product.
🔧 Maintenance Requirements
Keeping up with basic maintenance is required to keep your warranty valid. Full model-specific care guidance is available at hoodoosports.com/pages/kayak-setup-quickstart-guides. At a minimum:
- Rinse After Every Use: Rinse all products thoroughly with fresh water, especially after saltwater exposure
- Pedal Drive & Trolling Motor Care: Inspect and lubricate moving parts regularly to prevent corrosion and wear
- Storage: Store kayaks on supported racks or flat surfaces, away from direct sunlight or extreme heat. Store trolling motors dry and indoors when not in use
- Seals & Hardware: Periodically check scupper plugs, hatches, and connection points for tight seals and proper function
