A Walk Through

              Starting at the bow, you will find a comfortable molded grip for transporting your hoodoo kayak with a friend or on your own using the Bunkster Kayak Cart. When you find yourself not using your kayak paddle, there is a convenient bungee cord to securely store it on the bow. While standing, entering or exiting the Impulse 120, your paddle will remain in an easy to access out of the way position. The first of 4 storage compartments is located in the bow.

The front storage compartment hatch is secured in place with sliding latches on the left and right sides. It is not waterproof, but a gasket can be installed after-market. Inside the compartment, there is a molded drain and a drain plug. Installing the drain plug and the gasket on the lid will make the front compartment water resistant.  

A great place to install a fish finder is on the first of aluminum rails installed on the kayak. You can then locate a transducer mount on one of the rails on either side of the cockpit or behind the adjustable seat.

 In the center is the Hoodoos' cutting-edge fin drive propulsion system. The fins are secured with 2 stainless steel latches on either side of the fins mount. Just line up the pins on the drive with the mount and drop them in. You are now ready to pedal your way to your next fishing spot without having to give up the use of your hands. Arguably, the most important part of any kayak is the seat. The Impulse 120 comes stocked with an adjustable seat. The quick-dry mesh keeps you cool and comfortable all day. The seat is mounted to an integrated rail system in the cockpit allows you to slide forward or aft for a comfortable reach to the drive. It also has adjustable height settings, giving you greater visibility on the water. The seat can be upgraded to Hoodoo Impulse Swivel Seat, giving you 360 degrees of rotation so you can cast where you need to.

There are four molded-in rod holders placed around the seat. Each is angled in such a way that you can troll two rods at once or have 4 rods out when stationary. Just behind the seat, there is a molded spot with a bungee cord to store a small Plano box. In front of the seat is a compartment to store tackle and gear. Underneath the seat, there is a waterproof compartment to store your valuables. The storage bag insert can be removed for access to the hull’s interior. A great place to run wires for lights or your battery.

In the stern, there is a large storage well with bungee cords where you can secure extra gear or batteries.  Another sealable compartment that has a bag insert. The bag insert can be removed to give you access to the hull. With a total weight capacity of 440 pounds and its ample storage, you will be ready for all kayaking adventures.

When you receive your Hoodoo Impulse 120

              When you receive your Hoodoo Impulse 120, the rudder and seat will need to be installed. All of the rudder cables and the rudder deployment lines will be run.

Installing the seat

To install the seat, follow these steps:

1.      Attach the feet to the seat posts

2.      Line up 4 of the sliding brass inserts with the feet

3.      Screw in the feet to the brass inserts.

4.      Tighten by hand to secure the seat in place.

When you adjust the seat height to one of the three levels, you will need to loosen the seat's feet and pull up until it reaches the desired height. Then, tighten down the feet to secure the seat again.

Installing the Rudder

To install the rudder, follow these steps:

1.      Be sure the rudder control is pointed forward and is centered in its position.

2.      Deploy the rudder using the already-installed rudder deploy cable.

3.      Remove the rudder from the back storage well.

4.      Remove the wing nut and nylon stop nut from the rudder cables.

5.      Align the rudder cable threads through the rudder attachment points.

6.      Secure it using the wing nuts until there is tension on the rudder cables. Be sure to keep the rudder straight.

7.      Test the function of the rudder.

8.      Once satisfied with the rudder function, install the nylon stop nuts to keep the wing nuts in place.
